Hi Gaye, Well, here's a pic of her at the new barn. She seems
to be settling in pretty well. I will ride her tomorrow. Loving her sweet personality...just hope she will be fine under
saddle in the new environment! Thanks again for finding her. She's a gem.
Hi Gaye, I am buying her and taking her today!!! I
was going to email you when the deal was done, but I can't see what could go wrong at this point. I am meeting ------
at the barn at 1:30. Thanks so much for letting me know about this mare. She is awesome, and other than the fact
that she is a lot younger than I was expecting to buy, she is every thing I want! I am sooooooo excited.
You're the best!

i can't believe what an amazing
job you did with chianti in just a few days of "tune up" training. not only did he immediately start to behave
better, but he started looking healthier as well. he started using the correct muscles again; his coat became shiny;
and he returned to the laid back temperment he was born with. he's never been bad since the day we got him from
you, but i didn't realize the "issues" i was creating in him. so it made a world of difference to have
me in training with him! even though i consider myself to be fairly familiar with the nature of horses, you are able
to speak to them through body language and cues all at the right time to illicit the correct response. i would highly
suggest to any horse owner out there to get a "tune up" every now and again, for themselves and their horse. it
is a must! regardless of how good things are going. it's akin to every successful athlete in any sport: no
matter how good/accomplished they are in their field, they always go back to their trainer/coach for training and guidance.
and the better they are, the more they practice and seek the refinement of their trainer. because when you're
doing it on your own, you can't see the little cracks that turn into canyons. anyway, i can't thank you enough.
you pick amazing horses that you respectfully train to have solid foundations. and then when an owner like me
forgets all that you showed me in the beginning, you're willing to patiently retrain both of us. so again, i appreciate
your expertise. and more importantly my horse thanks you for teaching me how to communicate with him.
Hi Gaye,
Well, I've had a chance to try
a couple of different saddles on Pepper (yep, new name, though I did like Saphira, Pepper
seems to fit her better), and I really like the one you used. Can you tell me a little bit about it, so I can look for
a similiar model?
Thanks so much
P.S.
Everyone at Graceland stops by and wants to know if she'll let them pet
her, what her name is, what type of horse she is! She's a hit! Just as you said, "she's so damn cute"!
Gaye; you are amazing. I never would have
thought of that. Thank you sooooo much. I am so excited and can't wait to work with Onyxx and "give him
jobs" while we are out. I also love the idea about grass at a specified place for a treat. Very great. Thanks!!!!
I'm copying this to my 2 best horse buddies for their info to in case they take their horses out alone at times.
Will check out the videos too. I viewed some on your site about safety and also the one on gaits. Very great website
and I am so appreciative you took time to answer. So many great resources out there.
Hi Gaye, We met about a year and a half ago when you were selling "Biscotti." Not a day has
gone past that I didn't wish I had been able to buy him. Do you know of any other nice *little* horses like him
that you have come across in your travels? Any chance the current owners are moving on and looking to sell him? Just
figured I would finally work up the courage to ask. Biscotti has always
been at the back of my mind and I was really impressed with your thoroughness and genuine caring for the horses you train.
Thanks,
Hello Gaye. Well, here is my boy ..... Hope you can tell his owner how much he is loved. Enjoyed
talking to you today. I adore him and so does everyone at the ranch. Anyway,
he's the best horse I've owned and I love him so much.
Hi Gaye,
Chance
and Secret are doing well.....with the exception of all the rain we have had which has really cramped a lot of riding. This
particular stable, for whatever reason, takes forever to dry out....maybe the composition of the soil or whatever. There
are still puddles/mud from over a week ago. All of the outdoor arenas (there are none indoor type) are now open for
the first time...with the exception of the dressage arena. Chance has felt a bit cooped up I think, but finally can
now get out into the round to lunge before getting on his back. He still has more energy than usual and does a few crazy
things when he gets spooked over a sight or sound. I agreed to have one of the trainers (dressage) to ride him these
last few days just to get the kinks out. He looked so forward and good in the arena with him on his back. He worked
with him when I first brought him to CA (before Rick). He said he has learned a lot since his first rides with him......I
credit that all to you.
Hi Gaye
Even though the property is still muddy, I just couldn't stand it anymore. I had not been on Baylee since the
operation! (Dec. 3rd). so I groomed him, and saddled him up, it felt soooo good. AND he remembered all the cues.
I could only walk him up and down the fence line, but when I let out my breath and sat back he stopped on a dime, and he does
his lateral flexion very well. I can't wait to get out on the trail again, although he will need mucho longing to
get his initial ya-yas out. You've trained him very well! (and hopefully me too.)
Hi Gaye,
Bocelli and i jumped and did some threading, like the drill teams,
it was so much fun, He's such a good boy!!
Hi Gaye, Mag rode tino bare back and i we trotted him around the arena. He
was really good even though i hadnt done much with him the last couple weeks. He is good boy.
Thank you so much for the lesson. I had so much fun and love that fat burger
- he so cute!
thanks again for today. was so fun...again!!! can we go next sun and mon?
We just discovered your web site and already have learned a lot. We got into the gaited horsed about 8 years
ago. Coming from quarter horses we had a lot to learn and still are.
Do you know the prices on these two, are they at the same barn? They both look nice; if they
are in our price range that would be great to see a video. Could you take some footage of their legs too? We were
hoping to see some horses this week-end. Thanks a bunch for your trouble
Happy Friday Gaye!
Thank you so much for the lesson last night - I always have sooo much fun!
It's exciting to feel stronger and more confident each time I ride Cookie :) You are helping me so much and
not just with my riding. You've got me totally motivated to get into shape. I see now how important it is to be able
to ride. Thank you, thank you! If it works for you, lets try for next Friday so we can go out afterwards :o)
Thanks
again and hope you have a good weekend!
The first thing I would like to do is compliment you on your website. I have just begun to learn to ride a
horse in December (mid-life crisis...something I have always wanted to do since I was a kid and decided that there
was never a better time than NOW). Your website has so much information that is very appreciated and has been read several
times by me. I think I must have found you through your horse ad. I am looking to buy a horse in the next
six months or so and spend a lot (probably too much) time looking at horses for sale and reading about them. Buying a horse makes
me a little nervous because of several horror stories I have heard from people that have bought the wrong horse.
I have a great trainer that grew up with horses. She has the most amazing lesson horse that is so sweet and actually
comes up and will hug you. She is even a young horse, only 4. When I get a horse I hope to have one as affectionate
and sweet as my trainers.
Anyway, on your website I saw
the beautiful Western Leather HeadStall Bridle with Star Concho. I do know that I will
need a bridle when I get a horse. So, I might as well start getting what I need. I figure that if this is something
you like and use, it has got to be a good product. If this is still available, I would be interested in purchasing it.
I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but I am very mobile. I would not even mind meeting you at your stables, whatever
is convenient. Let me know.
I admire your passion
for horses. It looks like you have a lot of fun.
We are currently looking for a walker that is 16 hands so my husband can ride. Tombstone
looks and walks great. Does he have any Prides generator lines?
Gaye, With all my heart, from the bottom of my heart. I need to tell you how much this means to me. You are the perfect person to find myself re-learning the ropes of being around horses again. You make me feel so comfortable
and the instinct to feel I should know it all and feel like an idiot NOT knowing things, you make vanish. I can't tell
you what a relief it is. What a God send you are. You are generous and kind and fun and sweet and, well, Gaye, i need
this. I've suffered the most crushing loss in my ____ dying. I was feeling like there was nothing
left that was exciting in my life and now with this, I feel a surge of hope and joy. Thank you. I look forward to coming
out again on Thursday and whenever
you think you can allow me to, I will be there! You are an angel.
Hi Gaye, if you ever want to use me as a referral...kid thing...you're more than welcome
to, as you see fit.
I had a really good ride tonight.
he was moving so much better...so watch out, i'm comin to getcha! haha! not only was he faster, just moving off
my leg really well. sidepassing, rollbacks, backing, shoulders. was fun! just worried i'm gonna put
him in a hole in the dark!
btw, _____ texted me. asked
me how it went on sunday. told
her it was awesome and want to work at least that hard every time. she asked if we could do that on sunday?! sounds
like she's wanting to be more of an active rider! :-) see what an inspiration you are?
if i haven't told you...you're amazing, and i truly appreciate/respect your help. i aspire to have
just a fraction of your competency/timing/abilities. so thank you.
Hi Gaye, That was great
fun today and a great learning session as well. You are a wonderful instructor. ______ was really charged up afterward
as were _____ and me. Learning can be fun. The tire thing is one I never would have thought
about. You are really good at this horse stuff!! Would love to do again what we did today.
By the way, we saw
____ on the trail recently and she made mention about how much she appreciated the work you did with her horses. And
last night I spent some time talking with ____ and she asked about you and wished you well.
Your reputation
grows and for all the right reasons.
Hi Gaye......... We spent the Christmas 2009 holidays (23-26th) with my son and
his wife in the desert (In my absence, I asked if one of my stable buddies would like to ride Chance, as her Arab was
laid up. I received the following email from her. Hate to tell her that all that Chance knows is not from his
exposure to the dressage trainer at our facility (nor the western trainer that worked with him for 3 months)
but totally from all that you taught him on the ground and under saddle while he was in Walnut Creek.
His "rounded neck", getting 'on the bit" and the use of leg pressure were all your practices........those
successes that you have given to me. I can still her your voice saying "get him on the bit"......your voice
is clear in my head. Chance is till a youngster (only 5 yrs. old) but he has come such a long way. For that, I
will always thank you. Happy
New Year 2010!
The owner of chance, sent him
to me from Los Angeles. He was becoming aggressive and reared up and caught her in the head when she was turning him out.
She could see the dominance in his eyes before he did this. She told me he also jumped over the moon at times when she rode
him- He would leap thru the air when spooked. He was in training at the time with a reining trainer but things were
just gettting worse and she mentioned she wanted a trail horse and he never took chance out on trail.
She had bought him on the internet and although he was beautiful, he was not as described training wise and she had
wanted a nice calm quarter horse for trail riding and dressage.
I restarted him from the ground
to get his respect and then undersaddle. He was with me approximately 3 months, the owner came up several times for lessons
in the arena and trail, and instructions on what to do when she returned home with him. She kept up all the work and emailed
anytime there was a problem, but she was dedicated and as you see with her emails, she is now happy and back in control.
This was not an easy case of retraining. Chance was aggressive and fearful, 2 very dangerous things, and it took many hours
to get him back on course. The owner was smart and realized she needed help and not just any trainer to fix this. I give her
alot of credit because the thing that really made it stick was her making a change in how she handled chance and she instructed
everyone else who was in contact with chance to do the same. I also learned alot from chance as I do with every horse
I train. Many thanks to the owner for the great job and for keeping in touch. Gaye
Hey
Gaye, How are you? It's been ages since we've talked. I wanted to bring you up to date on my progress
with riding and .....
Now, about me! You would not believe
the progress I've made in the saddle. Leasing _____ horse (Kal) was the best thing I could do and I will always
be grateful to you for this opportunity. You saw me ride him shortly after I started leasing him. He tested me.
I had a hard time keeping him on the rail, he wanted to be in control, and he spooked in the same corner all the time.
But I've kept at it and now we have a special bond. If he's afraid of something, I work with him.
I show him it's okay, I remain calm. If I get worried I sing. (that's not pretty, but he doesn't
care. I'm breathing regularly and my body is relaxed). I'm now able to keep him on the
rail all the time, and keep him at a nice, steady, forward trot. I don't wear spurs but I do occasionally use my
crop. We do figure eights, serpentines, and criss-cross the arena. We also do 20 and 10 meter circles. My
legs are getting stronger so when I squeeze he notices. _____ spent some time with him and I and a lunge line last week
and I cantered for a little bit and lived to tell the tale. I'm by no means an expert, but I'm no longer terrified
of it. I also ride him from the arena back to the barn on occasion with no fear! It's a blast and now I know
what it feels like to "have my own horse." It feels good.
I'm also still taking lessons with ________ on Max the Wonder
Horse (the little Peruvian Paso
I told you about earlier) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I ride Kal every day I don't have a lesson except for
the rare weekend when we go to Sea Ranch.
Last week I took a week of vacation and had a lesson with ____ every day and also rode Kal almost every day as well.
_____ took me on two wonderful trail rides in Tilden Park where we encountered bikes,
dogs off leash, and the biggest leaf blower I've ever seen. Max was an angel and I had no fear! I also learned how
to do leg yields and finally have my posting diagonals down. Yeah!!
I think I'm going to continue leasing Kal through the winter and will actively look for a horse
to purchase in the spring.
So, there it is.
All the news from the ______ camp. I hope you are well and happy. Can we get together sometime for a cup of tea
or glass of wine? Perhaps we could go riding together? What do you think?
Your friend and devotee
Hi Gaye,
Chance has been a good
boy- ever since my last SOS email to you. As with you, he seemd to do a "turn-around" after a disparaging email
was sent off !
Fond wishes for a Merry Christmas and holiday season. Your the greatest!!
Hi Gaye;
Just wanted to take this opportunity
to thank you PROFUSELY for everything you have done for me this year. You have given me back my horse and the joy of
riding him, which is HUGE! You've accompanied me on several great rides, you've been a trusted trainer, friend
and so many other things I can't remember them all!
I truly appreciate everything and really cherish our friendship.
I look forward to many more great rides in 2010. Maybe, if the weather isn't too bad, we can do a ride between Xmas and New Year. Let's stay in touch.
Hope your holidays are fun, restful
and full of great surprises!
Hi Gaye
I love my horsey, he ran into the stall to see me, and I can't get him out of the puddles!!
Hi Gaye, I just wanted to let you know that ______ contacted me and we have a meeting set up for this Friday to meet at that barn. Thank you so much for
getting us connected. I think it will be really good for Tino and I. Also, sorry I never called
to come out this week. But, I didn't get out to see Tino for awhile cause one of the kids was sick and I really wanted
to work with him on the stuff you taught me before I started anything new. We are doing well with the lunging and the other
stuff. Tino is smart and remembered everything, even though I hadn't done it with him. It was just me getting the cues
right, but after I figured out what i was doing wrong he knew exactly what to do. Are you going to be around this week?
I was thinking I would try and come out Tues/Wed to watch you. Thank you again. I really appreciate that you have continued
to help me. Let me know if it's ok for me to come out this week.
Shiloh aka Epic
I have to tell you, I LOVE shiloh! He is such
a sweetheart, and so willing. Just a great, great horse. Not to mention he is the prettiest horse ever.
Thank you, Gaye! I always appreciate your advice/words of wisdom :) Take care!
Hi Gaye!
How are you doing? I hope all is well for you. Traveler and I are going for our first trail ride in Monterey tomorrow - exciting! We moved
him down here with us a couple of months ago. I still have my mare up in Sacramento (we are usually there on the weekends),
but I am looking at selling her. We just have not bonded. I am seriously considering purchasing
an icelandic horse. I have been researching them for the past year or so, and I think I would really enjoy one. Do you know
of any for sale or have any advice? thank you so much for your time, I really trust your opinion
and I have enjoyed Traveler so much. He is definitely our forever horse :)
gaye -
i'm sure you get tired
of hearing from me, but i had to thank you, again. there hasn't been a day that goes by that i've
had a second thought about whether or not chianti is the right horse for us. he is so mentally solid. i'm
constantly impressed by his ability to stay cool in situations that others horses would be completely crazed.
the other day on the trail a mountain biker came racing down
the hill around a blind corner.
he was going so fast and came so close that his bike actually skidded a few feet before continuing his downhill turbulence.
chianti didn't flinch. he was so unaffected, he just turned his head and watched gulliver and diane scoot up the
side of the hill. then yesterday i was putting bedding in his stall and had the cart/wheelbarrow full of empty plastic
bags outside his door. and since i don't like to do any more work than what is required (i'm lazy like my horse!),
i decided to drag the cart w/ me as i led him down to the arena. as you know, the aisles at vern's aren't very
wide. that goofball just smelled the bags and could've cared less about it bouncing and squeaking down the tight
walkway right next to him!
and btw, i've had
4 different people at the barn tell me that i'm fortunate that he is so well-behaved. i left him tied one night,
while i unloaded 5 bales of bedding and a man was shoveling, hammering and building a storage container 30 feet away.
after i came back he said chianti never jumped, pawed or acted up in any way while i was gone. he couldn't believe
it.
i'll try not to inundate you w/ any more
stories...but knowing the nature of horses, it's suprising he's so even-keeled given some of the situations.
so thanks again. seriously, he's so fricken awesome!
Hi Gaye
I
turned into a fanatic today and really played tough with Chance. He backed up in the lunge arena faster than I have
every seen him (well, really like he did with you!) I hit him pretty hard across the shoulder once........maybe too
hard since one of the boarders who was admiring his new body clip asked what the line (welt) was!!! Thanks for your
support.
That sounds so cool. i will tell my mom about it. thank you
Roo is doing wonderful i love him with all my heart. right now i am doing and camp with him. i have also been preforming
drill team with him and we if i
may say so myself are the best team in the dream team. lol. i cant wait till you can come
and see for yourself.
thanks,
Hi Gaye
I have been doing FANTASTIC with Baylee. I wanted to tell
you I hit a MAJOR milestone with him, I took him out all by myself! It was only 30 min. and we were both timid at first,
he didn't even want to move on the trail (the trail was right across from our home so my husband can actually see
me from our deck). But after we went through 2 trail gates he cantered to the top of the hill and then we gaited across
the crest and then we came back down. I was pretty darn proud of myself. Then last Sunday, I took him on
a trail ride with a friend and he hadn't been ridden all week because we were in Mendocino, he was terrific, totally calm
and steady. It was wonderful. And I owe it ALL TO YOU! thanks again,
Hi Gaye
Reminder
in case I haven't told you ...Love our horse! He is sooo good! Went over 2 hours toward Mt Diablo very willing and
walking faster, Honestly, you don't know what its done for my girls and me. Don't ever want to ruin such a good
horse. Thank you again ! Hope your well.
Hi Gaye,
Here are
a couple of pictures I thought you would like to see. Rachel’s horse Babe & Izzy
are best Buds. We put them all together yesterday afternoon and all is well.
Hi Gaye, Your suggestion in the round/lunging with Chance was right on. Thank you so much. I really got after him twice (swacted him good with the lunge whip)......after which if he thought
of breaking, all I had to do was to move slightly toward him with my feet and he immediately resumed his business. I
felt good instead of being overworked and frustrated. He definitely responds to praise, but moreover someone being in
control or reactive for a misbehavior. Sometimes I just fall into the trap of forgetting how different he and Secret
are...Secret would be mortified if I actually hit her with a lunge whip!!
Hi Gaye
I want to thank you again for all your help yesterday. You were great and very patient and you made Grace's
day! She was so excited and so happy to get "Onyxx" home.I will send you pictures of him next weekend when her
and I take him out on a trail ride. Thank you again and I wish you the best!
Hi Gaye,
He is such a sweet horse, and we are going to be so happy. Thank you
for letting me buy him.
Thanks Gaye, and I promise I will go slow. He is precious and
will be well loved and taken care of.
Appreciate
your help.
It was really good to meet you, and sorry for
taking so long. He is a sweetie.
gaye -
thank you. you helped me realize
my lifelong dream. owning chianti has been more gratifying than what i had imagined as a child. not only is he
safe, patient, tolerant and well-behaved for my 3 young daughters, 2 of which are special needs, but he has enough "go"
for me as well...he is incredibly fun to ride! he is physically, mentally and emotionally sound and solid.
three of us went for a trail ride tonight and it got dark sooner
than we had anticipated. on our way home, we encountered a rattlesnake on the trail. none of us, not even the
horses, could see it. we could definitely hear it. and judging from the lead horse's reaction, we were pretty
much on top of it! as we all stood still, we utilized the flashlight to look for it. but no such luck. after
it had stopped rattling, we discussed our limited options and decided to move forward. i asked chianti to blindly walk
down the middle of the trail. as we did, the snake began to rattle again! from the sounds of it, it had actually
crossed the trail and was now on the other side. not once did chianti spook or try to run out of the situation. i
even stopped about 10 feet from the other 2 so i could partially light the trail for them. i could tell chianti, as
well as the rest of us, did not want to stick around to find out where the snake might be coiled. but nevertheless,
he did not at all hesitate to do what i asked of him. he stood quietly waiting for the others. he is AWESOME!
he's everything you described him to be, and then some. without a doubt i will definitely refer you and your
services to anybody looking for a well-behaved, healthy, vice-free horse.
because of you, it truly has been an amazing gift that i've been able to share with my children. i could
never ask for more than that.
apologies for such a
rudimentary description. but it's as close as i could get in authentically expressing my gratitude.
Hi Gaye, All is well here and Chance is being a
good boy in practically every way. He did not get out for the first time on Sunday...just had a lazy day off in the
heat we have been experiencing. I started off by lunging him but had to give up the arena as the tractors poured forth
to "improve the footing". I took him "up top" to the wide open area that is between two arenas and
is bunkered by the traffic on Golden West, a major thorughfare. He was truly feisty for a bit, kind
of did his leopard leap step a couple of times and a bit of a race track move, i.e. dashing
around way faster than need be. He is really good though in stopping when he has left the circle for a sprint outside
of it....I think the halter definitely reminds him to stop when pressure is applied. We kept at it until he was again
a perfect gentleman, fairly worn out after about 25 mins in the warm weather (even though it was only 9:30-ish, so not toooo
warm). Gaye, his ground manners have been really good. I can't tell you how thankful
I am to you for bringing out that change! Again, and you may be sick of hearing it, I really appreciate all that you did to make Chance into an ejoyable adventure.
He has so many dear qualities and the obnoxious, over bearing dominance look in his eye (which he had when he came to you)
is gone. He seems to love being told he's "a good boy" when he is doing something right.......also seems
to know why when he needs to be corrected........just testing. My sense of trust continues to grow though I still am
aware he can do something out of sorts, especially when he is confronted with a new stimulus....an errant piece of equipment
that wasn't there the day before. I still believe that he is not near to being the type of horse you can just jump
on and go. If I don't lunge him, I don't feel that he will be predictable. Maybe some day......?
hi gaye, i'm sooo in love with Snoopy, had the best rides on him, especially out on
the trail, but also reeeeaally great in arena, he is just such a "snoopy", wants to be loved, always expects
to be in trouble.... somebody must have been not nice to him (i hope it wasn't you...ha, ha...) he is made!!!
for me!!
Hi Gaye
I would like to thank you for the wonderful training you
have given Brad and Me. You only worked with Brad for four weeks , but what a change you have made in Him.
He is
so much more relaxed on and off the trail. , willing and wanting to open Gates nicely, Moving off of leg pressure, staying
at a nice speed at the walk and Gait.
I really am amazed at your round pen work with Brad and how much he has learned
with the ground work you have showed him . All the round pen exercises have been fun for me
as well and seeing
Brad respond to all you have asked of him is just a thrill . Firing Off that Bull whip right next to Brad was
just totally cool.
feel free to use me as a reference and give my number out . Great to hear about
your new horse. looking forward to doing some riding with a another Trotter.
Happy Trails
hi gaye, Just had the most
wonderful trail ride! Love that horse! Thank you !!! Dvd's are helping too!
Thanks! I had a really good time last Saturday. I
felt pretty relaxed and Goober was wonderful. I especially liked the tiny bit of cantering that we did. You've
helped me so much, I can never thank you enough
Hi gaye,
(Tennessee walking horse in training-
use to hang tongue out side of mouth, wouldnt go thru gates well and difficulty gaiting. Now has had 2 weeks of training.)
My training stuff came in so i worked in round pen and arena then went out on trail. Totally different horse
on the trail. Much more relaxed too. Rode on loose rein the whole time, Practiced lots of one rein stops, trotted and cantered
as well. No tongue handing at all. Did go thru the first gate, he was perfect. Totally different horse. Thanks so much
for your help. His whole feeling is different on the trail. Real special feeling with him.
Hi Gaye, Thank you for the informational
video. I will see it early a.m. tomorrow. Chance and I just did some round penning today as he was due for some
vet shots today around noon time. Last time the vet came into his stall he actually struck out...in his defense he was
covered with hives ( I think from the Citronella fly spray that a friend tried to kindly use on him). I told her I would
be there to hold him this time around., He did very nicely, stood still for two shots, one on his side of his neck area.
Good boy. I cannot thank you enough or too many times for the magic work that you did with him on his stay in WC.
I hope you realize how appreciative I am and the others that you have made a difference with. I know I will encounter
some issues with Chance and will be calling or emailing, but so far he has been "understandable", a very few crazy
moves and I have felt I could "bring him in". Not to say there couldn't, wouldn't be something that
comes up........but so far so good. I do sing your praises.
Hi Gaye, Thanks for the great session on Sat.
thank you for all your good works, talent, and fortitude with him and for teaching me so much in a short period
of time. I do thank you and I will endeavor to continue the pace with him. I now certainly believe that he responds
to "a leader", loving on him has to be at the end of the day when all is good. He is so opposite of Secret
in that respect that it has been a total learning curve for me. He has many sweet personality traits, but only if they
are carreled and he has respect for the person working with him. I will do my best!
I can't thank you enough for getting Chance back on track. I will do my utmost
to keep the faith and continue his path for greatness...
On the spur of the moment I sent the video to the gal I bought Chance from. She lives in
Blandford, Mass. He came a long way to get here. She was very impressed with what you have done with him.
I look forward to having the DVD you are creating for me!!! I think it will be really a great reminder of all you
have done with Chance..all of which I will try to emulate as closely as I can. And, thank you for your recent words of
wisdom.
hello
i

Hello Gaye!
Great news. Buddy and I have gone
out twice now out on trail with absolutely NO jigging. Nothing!!! No ostrich neck either. He has
been very calm and very relaxed. Amazing. Rode most of the time on the buckle the other day with one other horse
(Cookie) and today with two other horses taking our turn riding in back of the other horses (Cloud and Mojito) and riding
on a pretty windy day.
Things had been going better
but we went from better to perfect from one ride to the next. I am so pleased ( and relieved). Thanks again for
your very helpful tips and techniques. It works!!!
Gaye
I just wanted you to know how very very much
I appreciate what you have accomplished with Baylee. You are the best trainer I have ever worked with, and I've
worked with a few! You really understand gaited horses and how different they are from non-gaited ones. You have made him calmer, more supple
and more responsive. And you changed that mostly go, to a calm, happy equine. For that I am truly grateful. I
am looking forward to practicing what you have taught me so that I can be as well-trained as my horse and spending many happy,
un-anxious hours on the trail.
You are the best. I can't sing your praises enough. You are a truly
gifted trainer with a natural ability to partner with any horse. I would recommend you very highly to anyone looking for a
great trainer...of horses and people!
Hi Gaye: You would have been SO proud of Baylee!! He was TERRIFIC.
When I got to the staging area he was a little amped up smelling and seeing all the other horses across the way, but I just
longed him and he quieted right down. There were 4 of us. We did a 3 hr. ride and I was in the lead the whole way on
a LOOSE rein the entire time. Can't wait to ride with you so we can gait some more. I even have some
saddle sores on my butt! But Baylee was wonderful. She , even commented that it was the best she's ever seen
him and we have ridden together quite a bit. You are AWESOME. It was your training and my keeping up with
it that has made the difference. THANK YOU.
Hi gaye, I love my new horsy thanks for helping me find him.
Thank you Gaye ! thank you
It took a bit of a wait but as you saw I finally have a good fitting saddle
and a wonderfully sound horse
we went out to the far gait by the picnic table both today
and yesterday
if you've ventured out there
you know theres a few rivers to cross
specially
between northgate and Lof
he was up to his belly in
one river and didn't seem to mind
Any way I hope
you might find some time this week or next to give me some riding lessons
I need to know and possibly even write down the proper Q's to give him to keep him in good training
I can't get him to side pass at all and I know he can
plus I don't really recognize his different gaits and would
like to just keep him sound and well trained
I
thought maybe you could come and ride him a bit and
teach
me
I don't know but just my thought
THANKS AGAIN FOR HELPING ME I REALLY APPRECIATE IT !!!
THANKS TO YOU I NOW=2 0HAVE A GOOD HORSE AND A GOOD SADDLE
NOW ALL I NEED IS A GOOD RIDER HAHA
TALK TO YOU SOON
Ever since I was a young girl, it has been my dream to have a horse of my very own.I
asked Gaye if she would help me find my first horse, and she said yes without any hesitation.I had no idea what I was doing, but Gaye was very patient in helping me find the perfect horse. She spent many hours taking me to look at many different horses, answering all my questions, and guiding me to take
the steps in making my dream come true.Even after the purchase of my new horse, Gaye continues
to help both Valentino and I get
to know and trust each other, answers any questions I have, and continues to help me improve my riding skills and confidence.Thank You Gaye, for all you have done in making my childhood dream come true and finding me what I consider to be the
smartest, most beautiful and sweetest horse – Valentino! You
made a perfect match.
I want to thank
you for coming out last night. You have been helping me so much and I really appreciate all that you have done. I've
learned so much from you, and you have helped me build up my confidence. I'm so excited about the progress that tino &
I have made. I just really feel like we've gotten to know each other and are starting to click.
I would really like to take you out when you get back from vacation, so let me know when you get back - OK!
I hope you have a good vacation and I will keep working with tino. I will remember leg, leg, leg...
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You bring out the best
in every horse you touch and the transformation that happens is truly remarkable. But it isn't only horses you
help - my skills and confidence have improved because of you. Without your help and inspiration, I would not have
found my very sweet Gulliver.
Gaye, you are wonderful!
Hi Gaye, Thanks so much for the pictures. I feel like I benefited sooo
much from working with you this week. You are truly amazing (You just might hear that a lot actually!!)
in your ability to cut to the chase, analyzing the problem and going after it. At first I felt rather
timid seeing the ol' boy again....just a lot of hangover from my accident. By Saturday, I actually was
enjoying all of my interactions with Chance. Thank you so much..
Hi Gaye,
Chance continues to be a source
of joy to me, although he is not without complexity at some times. He chooses to be curious of some rather mundane objects
in and around and bullet proof on some that I would think would throw him. He still would like to be in control of where
he goes....He does not like a particular hill leading to the arenas. He wants to stop and dwandle along. I just
have to give him a couple of strong wackes with the crop and he gives in. The other day the water truck was coming toward
him and he decided to do his little dance.
Just a
few days ago I thought I would try riding him in the arena without lunging him first. Still not a wise move.
He tried to be like Pegasus on
the wing. I took him to the round, leaving his tack in place, and he moved without stopping for a good 15 mins.
We went back to the arena again and he was a perfect gentleman. I just never know when he is going to get into that
testing mode...will it ever end! I would like to just be gentle and fun with him,but know that he is likely to see this
as a weakness and to his advantage.
We are
going to go to Idaho this week. One of the gals that takes care of horse for some of the boarders is going to ride and
lunge him for me for the four days we will be traveling. It is a good solution and gives me peace of mind that he is
getting out and not just molding in his stall. Kathie has two horses and rides them hunt seat. She feels comfortable
with Chance. Says she really has to work hard on him to get/keep him moving as he tends to want to be a lazy guy given
the choice. When I ride him, I love his canter the most. I find his trot to be a little rough, his jog the most
fun.
Chance's ground manners have been really
good. I feel confident now with him in this area. Funny, that was the worst for me to get over, but now I rarely
think of it. All good.
There is a question
that I am unsure about and probably mix him up trying to figure it out. When making small circles say in the arena,
do you use your inside (inside of the circle) leg pressure, or just apply rein "pressure" on the inside and use
outside leg pressure? That question is probably confusing in and of itself, i.e. hard to understand what I am asking.
I signed up for the DVD rental op. I received one of CA's...a
good way to view him w/o having to buy on Ebay.
Hope all is well.
