Arena Lesson with Beginner Rider
Apache is a wonderful horse. He has good size and could easily carry a larger rider such as your husband. He has lots of trail and dog field trial experience. He can also pull a cart. He has been to the mountains and to the beach. He has packed many beginners on the trail without issue. If you need to build your confidence back up, or you're new to riding, Apache is a great choice.
He is a registered Standardbred as you see above, but he was never raced, that's probably why his legs are so clean. He is originally from Canada.
He is surefooted and handles terrain well. He does neck rein and you can ride him on a looser rein. I ride him in a bites bridle. He is pretty easy to gait on the trail. He does a flat walk, running walk, fox trot and a saddle gait. He does not canter under saddle.
He is great with dogs, guns, atvs, traffic, goats, hikers, bikes. He goes through water and will open gates.
He will walk slow in the arena, but tends to walk out on the trail, unless you ride alot then he starts to walk slower. He lunges, and knows all the ground work, you can even side pass him on the ground. He goes over poles, serpentine, circles, leg yields, turn on the forehand, turn on the haunches, side passes. He stands nicely at the mounting block and you can get off on the mounting block. He will sidle up to anything so you can get on and has a good backup.
He trailers great and is great with the vet and shoer. He has nice ground manners and always ready to go out on the trail. He will ride alone or in groups, he will lead or follow.
He does have a forward smooth walk, although if you ride a lot he will go slower. But would do best with someone who likes to move out some and not go super slow on the trail if not getting him out much. He would be a good husband horse or guest horse or family horse.
He is easy to get along with and is safe and reliable. He is fun for someone who knows how to ride well and fun for someone new to riding as he knows what to do and has lots of experience doing his job. If you are interested please call, text or email. 925-768-7537 themajesticrider@yahoo.com
